Mash tun volume exceeded!

M

mobrien

Hi,

I've been using BeerSmith for a while, and have just set it up with my new gear - 42L boiler and 36L "keep cool" cooler.

The problem is that when I create new recipies or scale old recipies to this equipment, often the mash tun volume is exceeded in the mash out.  I've checked my equipment (in the software!) on a number of occasions and its all correct.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just a limitation of BeerSmith?

It specifically seems to happen with large grain bill recipies.

Matt

Here is an example - you can see that the water volume alone exceeds the mash tun volume - thats without the grain!

Matt,
You are correct - though I internally calculate the mash space needed I guess I never do a check on it and print a message out when the mash tun space is exceeded.

I just added another item to my "to do" list.  I need to check the mash tun volume against the projected mash space and flag it in some way - probably both on the brewsheet and on the mash builder.

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks Brad - I'm glad its not just me being stupid!

So the real solution is buy the 57L mash tun I really *need*  ;D

Thanks again - awesome program!
