I only brew 1 gallon batches for many reasons and I prefer it. I usually have several at the ready. Anyways, I am now moving up to 3 gallon fermenter and BIAB and partial mash only.
I wanted to scale accurately and quickly so I downloaded the mobile app. I watched a few videos about the app, but still want to ask a few questions in order to feel comfortable with the process.
I want to do a stout with BIAB. I use a 4 gallon stainless steel pot. I don't do secondary fermentation.
I have only done extract brewing in the past and I had to add a half gallon of water at the end of the boil.
Also, why in the equipment section of Beersmith 2.0 pulldowns does it show pot 3 gallons -extract 5 gallons?
Thank you for any replies, I am very, very green when it comes to brewing.
For the equipment profile I put the following information into Beersmith 2.
batch Volume: 3 gallons
Efficiency 68%
hop util 100.0%
Mash/lauter tun
This is all default, NA.
Boiler:
kettle top up 3.00 gallons
calc boil vol: NO
Boil volume 3.00 gallons
Boil off .5
Post boil volume: 2.5 gallons
cooling loss: 0.10 gallons
Fermenting/bottling volumes
All are at 0, but two categories
batch volume 3 gallons
bottling volume 3 gallons
