Hi Brad,
I have two suggestions for your OS X client. The first is to match the windows client where the editable letterbox fields are blocked. While the left or right justified boxes are one solution they provide a somewhat cluttered view as to what is an expected data entry point. The second is allow for a few highly used OS X command shortcuts like 'save', 'undo', 'copy', and 'paste' as opposed from having to use the drop down menus.
