I'm doing an Alagash clone soon and was wondering if using Dry Malt Extract would produce a lighter color than Liquid.
Thanks!

Color wise, I'd probably go with extra light DME and not add it all at 60. Instead, add a little and then keep adding small amounts over the boil, till about ten minutes (add it all by then).
Quality wise I never noticed a difference when I was doing extract.

First, your local homebrew shop should have the SRM rating on each of it's LME and DME containers. If not, ask the guy behind the counter.
Second, I have heard (but have not confirmed) that adding extract later in the boil does not darken as much.
Either way good luck!

Thanks for the info guys!
