Ahh, it works if I choose Ingredients/Hops and do the copy paste there.
I was trying to follow those steps on the "Inventory" tab. That does not work.

I have not had any issues with adding a hop several times to reflect the different lots I have available.  Just create a new hop, add in the new %AA and the amount and price and you are all set.  Alternatively to 'add new hop', you can right click on the hops you want to duplicate and then paste it into the hop inventory.  Edit it to change the important aspects (amount, %AA, price, lot no., etc.) and click save and you should be all set.  If you just open the hop in your inventory and change the %AA it will change it for that entry and not add a duplicate entry.

I am trying to add a NEW inventory item, Hops, specifically 2021 Cascade.
I don't want to merge the newly purchased hops to existing because they differ in AA, age and source.
I don't see how to add a New item with my own name, IE "Cascade_2021-8.7%"
I want to keep them separate from existing inventory.

I followed the instructions in help but it did not allow me to enter a unique name.

I've never used it before, but it seems to make more sense than the others. Your thoughts?

Suggestions / Re: Add year to table on Hops Tab
« Last post by BOB357 on November 02, 2021, 04:11:19 PM »
I just add the crop year to the name of the hop in the data base.  Cascade (2018) Simple and works well.
As for aging, I use the Hop Age tool to adjust the alpha each year when the new crop is released.

Suggestions / Add year to table on Hops Tab
« Last post by ShredderDAWG on November 02, 2021, 03:00:53 PM »
Would be great to have a Year column in the Hops table. I have inventory of the same hops from different crop years. The alpha and beta values degrade with age. Would be great to be able to track these values by crop year in the Inventory vs. editing the values in the Design mode.

You can also now run the web based version of BeerSmith from your Chromebook.

Hi Palle and welcome!

Batch size is defined by the program as the amount of wort expected to be transferred to the fermenter.  This is post-boil and cold wort volume.

If you are using a bag and still managing your mash as a traditional mash liquor and sparge system, then you should treat it as a traditional mash liquor and sparge and use that profile.  BeerSmith defines BIAB to mean a full volume mash, as this method was originally developed. If you are using a standard amount of water to sparge, like always sparging with 4 liters of water, then you can still use the BIAB mash profile and set up your equipment profile to 'top off kettle' with the 4 liters you intend to use as a sparge.

I hope this is clear, if not let me know what part is not.
