Unfortunately we had a massive denial of service attack on BeerSmithRecipes.com from roughly 9:30am to 5:30pm Eastern time on 9 July 2025.

Servers apparently located overseas were attacking the main website sending as many as half a million requests per hour, effectively making it inaccessible.

I ended up working the problem all day, eventually implementing a series of filters to halt the attackers. The BeerSmithRecipes.com site should be up and working now for all users. However the new scheme could cause some unknown issues with certain applications so please let me know if you are unable to access certain functionalities.

Fortunately the server itself was not breached and no data was lost. I do apologize for any inconvenience that the outage caused.

Hi Brad
We are experiencing an issue where everytime we try to open our recipes from "Cloud" on both Windows and Mac, there is a message alert popping up with HTML code for the beersmith website for a 404 page not found.
 
Yes unfortunately some of the filters I put in place to stop the millions of attacks are causing problems for some users. I've been working through giving access back to key scripts last night and into this morning. I made some changes a short while ago, so please restart your BeerSmith and try again.

If it fails could you please send me an email at beersmith at beersmith.com as I may need some personal information like your IP address to trace the specific problem.
 
It happened a bit over a year ago on the main BeerSmith.com site as well. I think most popular websites are targets these days.
