Fruit flavourings

Has anyone used a fruit flavouring instead of real fruit  in a fruit beer? Making a cherry wit soon and am thinking  of using  a  cherry flavouring  from craft brewer.

Be aware that there is a difference between real fruit and fruit flavoring.  The people with the better tastes can tell the differences.
