Does anyone else ever wonder how they design hydrometers to always move the scale you want to read away from you. It seems no matter what you do it will just slowly spin around to where the gravity scale is pointing the other way and then stop there.

It’s a mystery.

Its the same way that smoke from a camp fire will follow you no matter where you move.

It’s probably a mix of fluid dynamics, slight imperfections in the shape, and how the surface tension of the liquid interacts with the glass.

You could put multiple scales around the paper so you could see one no matter which side is facing you. Or you could pay the big bucks and get an EasyDens with a readout from an app on your phone. You would still have to turn the correct side of the phone to your face to read it.
