One thing that I don't get about BeerSmith is that the Shopping list has 5 categories (Grain, Hops, Yeast, Misc, Item), but the Inventory does not have "Items".
Strange when you consider that these two views cover the same stuff.
How, for example, are you supposed to keep track of your stock of empty bottles if you can't add them to your inventory?

Items are listed in the Misc ingredients and labeled as an 'other' on the pull down menu.  You can then set the number of 'items' you need based upon your batch size and BeerSmith will scale based upon any change in batch size.  You can also specify that the bottles are needed at 'bottling.'

OK.

Still very confusing that the "Add Item" button exists for the Shopping List but not for the Inventory.

Even more confusing: in Inventory, clicking the "Add Misc" button opens a totally different dialog than clicking "Add Misc" from the "Insert" drop-down menu.

The 'add item' for the shopping list gives users a chance to add things such as sanitizers, cleaners, DME (such as for starters), airlocks, and other miscellaneous stuff to the list before they go to the LHBS or start looking on-line for these items to go with the rest of the list populated from the recipe ingredients.

But the shopping list is useless. Unless, you want to carry your laptop or desktop to the LHBS with you...because beersmith has no cloud support.
Totally outdated software.
We were promised upgrades this year. Then it was posted October. Ten moved to December. Brad is running out of time.
