Sparge Profile For Anvil Foundry

None of the Anvil profiles have a sparge option. I set up a mash profile below but I noticed there is a sparge option on the mash tab as well. However I don't have an option to alter it from there. I read you have to somehow update the anvil profile to allow that? Is the way i'm doing the sparge work or should I update through the mash tab on the recipe?

If you are following the Anvil recommendations and always going to keep 1 gallon back to sparge with, then choose a BIAB profile for your mash. In your equipment profile, modify it to add 1 gallon of top off water pre-boil.

This will subtract that...

Yup they are in the mash tab but I don't have the option due to my Anvil profile.

Killswitch, don't worry about the sparge. The software does not know what you are doing with that gallon you held back. You can top off your kettle by pouring it through the grains, and it will not know!

There is no way in a standard sparge profile to set a fixed amount for the sparge step. The closest you can come is the way I described; use the BIAB profile which will adjust the mash volume accordingly and allow you to keep back that gallon.

This is about duplicating your process within the constraints of the software.

You can always add another step line to the mash steps which reminds you to pour the gallon of water through the grains if you want the reminder.

I don't understand what option you don't have? The Anvil equipment profile is separate from your mash profiles. Did you watch the video link I provided? To get to the mash profiles in Beersmith find the Profiles option in the menu and you will see profile sections for style, equipment, mash, carbonation, and fermentation. You can tweak and customize. Select the Mash profiles and follow the tutorial video to create a mash schedule to suit your needs.
