What is saison “funk”?

Does anyone want to try to describe the taste of a saison “funk” for me?
 
Have you tried any commercial offerings of the style? Your own nose and taste buds would be your best guide.
 
It is mainly a bit of sourness from the lactic acid - though it is more subtle than a true sour beer.
