Hello !
I am relative new to brewing, living in small apartment I only brew IPAs (for now ). I got nice results : all my friends like my booze. I have a 30 liter boiler...

last week my gf cooked some blueberry jam, it came up too sweet, she used 50 / 50 sugar berry and we end up with 1.5 kilos .

my question : Can I use it in my next brew knowing that it was white sugar ? I will be using crushed malt. If yes, when should I add it to the brew ?

cheers

Yes, you can absolutely use the blueberry jam in your next brew and it might even make for a fun, fruity twist, especially if you're going for a hazy or fruited IPA style.

Hi and welcome to brewing! Yes, you can definitely use white sugar in your brew. It’s common to add sugar to boost alcohol content without affecting body too much. Since your sugar comes from jam, just make sure there are no preservatives or additives that could interfere with fermentation.

Usually, sugar is added during the boil, preferably in the last 10-15 minutes to help it dissolve fully and sanitize it. Good luck with your IPA!

Hello beerbrew!

First of all, I just want to say that this is my personal opinion. Yes, you can use your homemade blueberry jam in brewing. Since the jam is made with white sugar, it provides fermentable sugars that yeast can convert into alcohol.
