How often to recirculate mash

I'm in the process of building a HERMS and was wondering what the thoughts are regarding recirculation frequency. I've read some opinions that it should be minimal and others claim to recirculate constantly via a by-pass and only adjust mash temp as necessary.

Ahh, the beauty of home brewing,  There are many, many ways to do it.
