New to brewing, I got a bargain on a used keggle fitted with spout and thermometer, the only drawback is the thermometer is mounted too high for my 3 and 5-gallon batches. I'd like to re-set it down a few inches, no problem except filling the hole. Are weldless plugs available … basically a bulkhead fitting sans the port? Thanks.

I don't think there is any specific assembly you can buy to achieve this, but it's certainly doable. A 1/2 NPT male plug with a silicone o-ring and a stainless locknut on the inside should do the job. You can find all of these here: Fittings / Camlock. I'd recommend emailing Bobby at BrewHardware.com and explaining the situation--he'll help you get the right parts.
