Hitting Target Gravity

B

Big Tex

Hi all,

I'm new using BeerSmith and so far it's been really great!

On a regular basis I adjust my wort S.G. to what I want my starting S.G. to be.  I use the following fomula to determine how much DME I need to add to hit my desired Starting S.G.:

      Extractlbs. = [(Target GU X Target Vol.) - ( GU X Vol)from mash] / (extract/lb./gal. value)

Is there a tool within BeerSmith where I can calculate this information?

Thanks,
Gary

Not exactly,
  However, if you set up your equipment correctly you can get a very good OG estimate from BeerSmith and then adjust your extract additions to match your target OG.  The FG estimate is slightly less accurate, but based on the average attenuation of the yeast you use.

Cheers!
Brad
