I do most of my recipe work on my desktop, and transfer the recipe to the laptop via the cloud, to use in the brewery. Is it possible to keep all the data files the same on both computers.

For my file security I use a program called Second Copy.  This runs automatically whenever my laptop and external hard drive are connected, with a profile that backs-up any file that has changed over the last period - which I set to 20mins.  That means that I always have a secure second copy of my all important files.
I see no reason why the program could not be set up to consider your laptop as an external drive to your desktop.
