Adjustment Help to Hit my OG

B

Big Tex

Yesterday I brewed a batch of beer and hit my pre-boil specific gravity exactly (1.043).  Beersmith said that my OG should be 1.053 but when I measured it, it came in at 1.049.  I figured I could adjust my evaporation rate and/or boil time to dial this value in.  But when I changed these values, it didn’t seem to change OG at all.  Any recommendations and/or adjustments so that I hit my SG?

Cheers,
Gary

Gary,
Just adjust your brewhouse efficiency down a bit (you can use the "efficiency" button in the recipe to calculate this if you have entered all of the actual OG's in your recipe).  You are achieving a slightly lower brewhouse efficiency than you expected.

Cheers!
Brad
