I am trying out my first Lager and I was hoping someone could help me out. I have made a bunch of different ales so far that have turned out great. The Lager (Oktoberfest) is behaving quite different. I know the Lager yeast ferments on the bottom, but I have seen very little activity. I expected the Lager to be less dramatic then the Ale yeast, but is it normal for there to be very little visible fermenting? It has been seven days and my gravity has changed some so I know something is going on.
Also when I transfer to my secondary fermenter should I strain the liquid? In the past I have not but this batch seems to have a lot in it.
