Where do you get your deionized water?  I hoped this would be an easy one at my local pharmacy, but I'm coming up dry.  The stuff is expensive on Amazon!!

...This is for storing my new pH meter :)

Is something a bit more casual, say RO water, going to have ill effects?

Thanks everyone!

The best storage solution is a KCl solution sold for that purpose.  I've even stored a probe for a while in pH 7 or 4  buffer without an issue.  Otherwise, look for distilled water.  RO water will do just as well.

They key is to not let the membrane on the end of the probe dry out as it needs a hydrated layer to function properly.  The membrane can also become clogged with proteins, salts, or minerals.  If you do let it dry out, then soak it in pH 7 buffer for a while before trying to calibrate.
