Hello guys!

I'm going to start brewing within the next weeks and I'm wondering if you could help me find the best suppliers for my ingredients (malts, hops and yeasts)

I live in Northeast British Columbia (near Kamloops), I don't know any local suppliers and I'm wondering which is best; to order online or go get my stuff in a local place?

And if you have good suppliers online, please send me the links so I can check them out!

Thank you very much,
Jade :D

I don't want to get in trouble by recommending particular suppliers, but I will provide a list below. Buying online is fine for unmilled malt, which will stay fresh for months if properly stored. Milled malt should be used within a few weeks, and I doubt that vendors mill it just before packaging it and shipping to you. If you are buying a common item that has a lot of turnover it might be fresh, but something oddball might have been sitting around for awhile. Hops that have been vacuum sealed should also be fine to purchase online. I always purchase liquid yeasts in my local store because I know they keep them properly refrigerated at all time during distribution. I purchased some yeast online once that got delayed during a heat wave and arrived dead even though I had ordered an ice pack. Dry yeasts should be no problem to purchase online. I am fortunate to have a MoreBeer retail store within a few miles of me, so my online and local supplier are the same.

Check the list carefully, as not all suppliers will ship to Canada.

Personally, finding a local store where I could ask a lot of questions and get some guidance was a big help when I started brewing.  Hopefully some of our Canadian brewers out there will jump in with specific recommendations.

WOW!

Thank you so much guys for the tips :) I didn't think I would get such early responses!
I will definetly check this list out and keep what you said in mind when I choose where I get my supplies!
