Is it the tank in which the conditioning and maturation of immature beer is done post the primary or attenuative fermentation is done

or

Is it the tank in which the beer rests after filtration and awaiting artificial carbonation/bottling?

In commercial beer brewing, the brite tank with both of these two function you mentioned above.
Some brewers brew beer with much longer maturation time, now they can transfer beer from fermenters to brite tanks. Then the FVs will be not be occupied. The beer now in BBT is more clear.
In therory, the brite tank should have better capacity for bearing pressure, as both of its head and bottom are dome shape.

SS Brewtech makes brite tanks for homebrewers.
