Newbie question regarding BeerSmith

J

Good morning -

I'm looking to make a Cream ale -

The recipe calls for a 60 minute boil but the ingredients list the hop boil for 90 mins?

Also - being a newbie to AG brewing, If the ingredient list calls for corn flakes, I'm not sure if those should be mashed or simply thrown in the boil...
Does BeerSmith provide step by step instructions?

Thank u!

Since you are using Pils malt, you want to boil for 90 minutes to reduce DMS in your beer. Mash at 149 and use a 90 minute mash rest to ensure full conversion of the flaked rice/corn (per Jamil's Cream Ale).

Hi,
You can chance the hop boil time by double clicking on each hop you want to change within the recipe - there is a boil time setting there.

Not sure about corn flakes - I've never brewed with them before.

You can get step-by-step instructions using the "Brewsheet" button from any open recipe.

Cheers,
Brad

Are you sure it's Corn Flakes, and not Flaked Corn?

Cheers
