Hello ...
I all of a sudden got this Windows message:
Beersmith has stopped working.
Check online for a solution or close program.
I am running Vista.

Don't know what caused this.
I guess I would just try reinstalling the program, but wanted to check first.
Any other suggestions to try first.
I'm not sure, will a re-install wipe out my recipes?
Thanks for any help on this ...

I read in another post to try reinstalling.
It will not wipe out data.
So, I re installed.
Same problem.
Program has stopped working.
Close the program..
Any suggestions?
Thanks..

If anyone wants to know what info was with that message ...

Bob,
Usually this happens when a file is badly corrupted, perhaps from an inadvertent shut-down while BeerSmith was open.

Reinstall again, but this time install to a different directory (ideally one under your Documents directory for the user you primarily use).

Then you should be able to open the new copy, go to the old directory and open up the Recipes.bsm file there to restore your recipes.  You can copy/paste the ones you want back into your My Recipes directory.

If the Recipes.bsm is empty you can look in the compatability directory.  The full path to the compatibility diectory is:  C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\BeerSmith

where {USERNAME} is your login name for Vista.

Cheers,
Brad

OK, Brad, that worked just fine.
I put it in a different folder
And thanks.
Questions:
I want to install the old version.  How do I make sure that I don't uninstall the one I just put in.
I'd like to clean up a little.
Any thoughts on that?
Also, when I try to open OPTIONS.bsm, I get an unknown error occurred while accessing C:.....\Options.bsm.
When I get OK, I get the dialog box

Pressed the wrong button ... Sorry ...
When I press OK, I get the dialog box, New Table Type.
Not sure what this is about.
If I cancel out of that, the program quits.
That is OK, as I can reset the options and reports.
I got everything else OK.
I need to read up in the forum where the files are stored and get a proper backup done of them.
Also about what file the Calender looks at.
Thanks again ...

Previous post ....  I want to uninstall the old version !!
