I wanted to try a 1/3-2/3 parti-gyle batch to make a 5 gallon big beer and a 10 gallon regular beer. In beersmith, I took a 5 gallon recipe for Russian stout and changed it to 15 gallons and doubled the grain bill and saved as PG Russian stout, then I took the original recipe and change it to 10 gallons and adjusted the hops to fit the new style. By Randy Mosher's charts on parti-gyle brewing it came out perfect. I then tried it on a Barley wine, imperial IPA and a tipple with the same outcome. the sugars in the recipes were omitted and added back to the appropriate batch. Can anyone see any problems with this method? it seems too easy.

Just another observation on parti-gyle recipe formation in beersmith concerning color. When adjusting the master F-G recipe (as described in the previous post) I simply multiplied color by 1.5 and it came out to what mosher's chart predicts for P-G color estimates (and within 6% of the original 5 gallon recipe). The second batch recipe was off only slightly from mosher's prediction (which would be 75% of the master recipe color). There's a few variables impacting color and one would think these estimates would be more than adequate.
