Biologic scaling

To properly scale up things that concern metabolism (e.g. recipes/cooking) one must consult Brown and West's "Scaling in Biology" (ISBN 0-19-513142-8).  The key concept for brewers is that it scales by the 3/4 power, not linearly.  E.g. scaling up a 5-gallon batch to 500 gallons does *not* mean multiplying everything by 100!
