Temperature Control

Either a refer or a freezer w/a Thompson Temp controler.  Google it.

Are you talking about a lager with specific cool temps or a forgiving ale? You can put a primary bucket in a tub of water controlled with a fish tank heater. You can do the same thing to cool it by putting a T-shirt over the bucket and letting the shirt tails sit in the water to make an evaporation cooler. Lots of crazy ways to help in hot and cool temps.

Well, I would love to make largers, but at the moment I want to make wheat beer and ale, but constant temperature control (say at 17C for the whole process).

I guess this depends what your ambient temperature is? How far are you off and how stable is your temperature? I don't really worry to much about hitting the right temperature. Get close and hope for the best!
