Hi, I'm considering doing a BIAB brew but I want to try and recreate an extract recipe that I brewed before and loved. Its this recipe here http://www.beertools.com/html/recipe.php?view=7657&fvu=liters&u=metric&fv=20&scaleBttn=Scale+Recipe It uses 2.88Kg of 'Dry Wheat; Muntons'. The info link on Muntons says 'Made with a preponderance of wheat malt (55%) for the production of wheat or Weiss beers. Contains no colored malts or hops.'. Can anyone tell me how I convert this to a BIAB recipe? Heres a link to the crushed wheat malt from my LHBS http://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69_73&products_id=145 but it says 'Maximum percentage 70%'. I'm confused? what % of this wheat should I use and what should make up the balance?

Thanks

L

Set up your malt in the "Ingredients\Grain" profile (button at the top - or use whatever is close that is already set up in BS.  Then set up your extract recipe in BS.  Then use the convert button at the top and choose "all grain" and choose your grain in the pop-up window.  Then choose "BIAB" in the Mash profile on the Recipe page.

I think the 70% reference is the amount of wheat malt that can be used in a grain bill.  It is saying a HB should only use 50 % in your mash  - I assume to avoid a clogged mash bed during lautering.  But BIAB may not matter - I don't know as I've never done one.  So balance out some of the wheat grain with some 2 row barley malt or get some rice hulls to make up half of the grist - or 50/50 of each.
