Is there a way to reset the view back to factory settings?  I seem to have removed something and now I don't see the left hand panel section and can't view a brew sheet.

Thanks!

Jerry

I have the same question, as I accidentally altered one of the recipes that comes with it.

I too deleted equipment and thought a re-install over the top would fix it but it didn't. Maybe a remove and replace would but I don't want to lose what I have done already.

Hi,
Worst case if you want a completely clean reinstall you can do the following:

  - Rename your "Documents/BeerSmith2" directory to something else like "OldBeerSmith" which saves your data
  - Make sure you have the latest version of BeerSmith 2 installed from the main download page
  - Restart BeerSmith2 - which will create a new BeerSmith 2 directory with the sample recipes in it
  - You will likely have to enter your registration key again
  - Once you have BeerSmith running again, use the Open command to open your old Recipe.bsmx file
that is now in your "OldBeerSmith" directory  and then copy/paste any recipes you need into
    your new "My Recipes" folder
  - You can do the same with Equipment.bsmx, Hops.bsmx, etc... if you have added items beyond
those that came with BeerSmith 2
  - If you can't open one of the files (Recipe.bsmx for example), you can also try opening the numbered
backups (Recipe1.bsmx, Recipe2.bsmx, etc...) - these contain older copies of the original.
  - Let me know if you have any problems - and please keep your "OldBeerSmith" directory around
(the one you renamed earlier) as it will have all of your data in it!

Cheers,
Brad

Hi,
Just followed this guide since I managed to delete a lot of stuff in the ingredients lists.

To avoid having to go trough the preferences etc what I did was to rename my BeerSmith folder. Started BM and then just shut it down.
BM had then created a new folder with only the default profiles, ingredients etc.
I then renamed this new "default" folder to BeerSmith-Default and renamed back my own folder to BeerSmith.
Now I'm back to my own settings but can simply copy the missing items from the Default folder and be sure all my own changes are intact.

  • Swap your folder for with the default (Documents/BeerSmith). Keep your folder separate, for now
  • Export the items you want to restore from what you've named "default."
  • You can highlight multiple items and export them as a group
  • Close BeerSmith
  • Swap the folders again, so that BeerSmith opens your custom folder
  • Open BeerSmith
  • Import the files to their appropriate database.
