Recipes cannot be copyrighted http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl122.html

While BCS can and should fall under the realm of a cookbook, thus can be copyrighted, the recipe itself is not. 

Correct me if I'm wrong here - I realize Beersmith may have had legal advice regarding this matter and I'm just interpreting the issue incorrectly.

This particular issue annoys me, frankly, because I purchased the book, I have the recipes, I just want them in a convenient format.  If there was a means to purchase said file, I would have no problem with that.  But, there isn't a commercial alternative so the next option is asking the share files with fellow homebrewers.

The "Collection of recipes is copyrightable.
I have permission from the author and publisher for what I have up.
