Pre boil volumes? Why cant I change this?

Beersmith tells me my pre boil volume is 4.27 gallons for a 5 gallon batch.  This doesnt make sense and I cannot change the value.  Either that or I just dont know where to change it.  Any thoughts?
 
Something is wrong.  Your preboil should always be higher than your batch.  Maybe you have a negative number in trub-losses or something? 
 
uncheck the box that says (calculate boil volume) then you can set the boil volume to what you want. I usually pick 7.5gal for an Ale and 6.5 for a stout at 60min. If I'm doing 90min boils I add a gallon.
