Fairly new brewer here (7 mos). Beersmith was a little intimidating at first for someone who's only done Mr. Beer 2 gallon extract batches. Big surprise, after getting over the initial shock of seeing all that detail provided, I think I am actually getting the hang of setting up for small batches. Since I plan to advance to all grain and larger batches soon, this was probably the perfest time for me.
The hardest part was getting my equipment profile just right and setting up a mashing schedule, especially a multi step mash for small batches under 5#'s of grain, but I'm sure I'll get that figured out as well with the forum and Beersmith's Help files.
So far I'm impressed. I have been looking for a package that will do it all, including a brew day checklist, brew costs, etc. etc.
