Setting up Beersmith for 3 gallon brewpot and 2 gallon mini cooler for partial?

Open the "Profiles" menu then open "Equipment". Open an existing profile that approximates your setup. Click on "Add Equip" in the icon bar near the top of the BeerSmith main window. Use the existing profile as a guide to enter your information and save the new information as "My Stuff" - or whatever suits you. If you don't know what to enter for some of the details, copy the numbers from the existing profile and refine them later as you learn more about your system.

Most of the information will become obvious as you use your equipment if you measure your specific gravity and volumes throughout your brew process. Measurement can become excessive, but try to get into the ball park. You can look in the bottom of your mash tun after brewing and get a pretty good idea if you've left a quart or a gallon of wort behind. It's a fairly simple one-time process to mark your kettle to let you measure to the nearest pint. Homebrewing is generally an art informed by science. The balance point should be the combination of art and science you find entertaining during the brewing and which produces beer you enjoy.
