I would like to have a timer step during my mash to remind me to turn on my burner for a mash out.  Is there a way to add this step or better yet add a complete timer event other than just the boil and mash timers?

Yeah I was wondering this also as I use an immersion wort chiller and would be nice to add a reminded to add it into the boil.

Anyone know of a way?

Right now I add dummy temperature steps to the mash for 0 minutes at the same temperature.  Its a bit of a pain, but it works okay.

I posted a feature request to be able to add "notes" steps to a mash profile.

For the boil, I suppose you could add a MISC boil "ingredient" named Immersion Chiller and specify it be added 10 minutes from the end, just like Irish Moss.
