First brew and in a minor quandary; when/how to add the Isinglass finings?
I have searched the forums and read all of the excellent Brad Smith book, but can't pinpoint the answer
So I have a Burton ale, primary fermentation complete, heavy brown foaming top on the brew after two weeks from pitching. Must be time to add the Isinglass to clear it for 5 days before bottling I guess, assuming that the foamy top will stay put (forums say leave it, don't skim it).
So if I now stir in the isinglass I will be disturbing the scum and making things worse won't I? Maybe I can stir it through a point to minimise this, or more drastically syphon it into a different vessel then fully stir in some finings?
Any ideas on what is best here? all feedback appreciated
