Hey everyone,
I have been brewing for about 3.5 years now and have decided to try making my own recipe. I am currently stuck on measurements, I normally brew ten gallons at a time but for this I am only doing 5 gal.

My 5 gal list so far is this:
1lb Dark candi sugar
1lb Dark Brown sugar
6lb Traditional Dark Pure malt extract
dunno on the barley. I would like a smokey flavor in the beer though.
2oz of brewers gold hops
2oz of saaz hops
dunno on yeast either.

any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

If you're looking for smoke malt, briess makes a nice one.  Be careful with how much however, as it can be a strong flavor.  I brew all grain and added a pound in and the smoke flavor was super powerful.  After almost a year it mellowed some, but when it was young it was almost overpowering.  I've been wanting to try peat smoked malt, but haven't yet.  Smoke beer is something that not many people have a taste for and it might be something to try small batch first.
