Lactose and gravity

adding lactose causes the final gravity estimate to go DOWN. Lactose doesn't ferment so final gravity should go UP.
Am I missing something here?
 
There are a bunch of old threads on this, but BeerSmith doesn't handle Lactose correctly as you've identified. I haven't figured the best way to handle it. What I do, is first I note the FG and OG, then I add it to my recipe, and note the OG increase. I then put notes in the recipe to not the number of points to expect it to add, then zero out the amount in the recipe. Then I just use the noted points in figuring expected fg.
