Totally new to brewing, but really want to learn.
Fairly simple recipe:
10 lbs Brewers malt 2 row
8 oz Caramel malt 60L
.5 oz Summt hops
.75 oz Pearle
2. oz Cascade
1056 yeast.
My question is in water prep step. It says prepare 8.03 gallons water.
Mash in with 13.13 qts or 3.28 gallons
Sparge with 4.75 gallons
Add water to achieve 6.27 gallons
With the 3.28 + 4.75=8.03 gallons. Does the grain absorb that much water that I will have to add?
