Ok guys, new to homebrewing and more specifically beersmith.
When assigning my equipment, i'm not sure what profile I should use.
My boil kettle is the typical starter 5 gal (20 qt) pot. The recipes I'm using are extract partial boil (2.5-3 gal) in kettle with the remainder added to the carboy.
The only 5 gal profiles are biab and pot with cooler types, but both of this specify a pre boil volume of 4.8 gal or higher.
I doubt I can fit that in my kettle without boiling over.
The closest would be the 3 gal kettle profile with a pre-boil of 2.82 gal. Would that be appropriate to scale my recipes?
Thanks!
