Title: Dry Hopping for 1st time
Post by: tpw on April 23, 2018, 11:19:19 AM
I'll be trying an extract recipe for an IPA that asks for dry hopping after racking to a secondary fermenter. Should I take a final gravity reading after primary, or after secondary fermentation?

Also, does it matter if I dry hop with pellets, or the actual hops?

take your readings before racking to secondary, if it's not done you don't want to take it off the yeast quite yet.  pellets or cones, it doesn't really matter. personally i prefer pellets these days because they don't clog up the operation as much... you could use a muslin bag if you wanted to mitigate that challenge.
