I've had numerous reports of problems creating new recipes with BeerSmith 2 under the new "Big Sur" OSX operating system for Mac. Unfortunately BeerSmith 2 was compiled with a much older set of OSX libraries, and Apple is constantly updating their development systems.
You can fix it by upgrading to BeerSmith 3.1 which does run under OSX Big Sur. BeerSmith 3 can also import your BeerSmith 2 data.
