Well, actually, I did TWO- one on Saturday and then another on Sunday.
It went smooooth as silk (excepts a minor problem on Sunday's brew.
Thanks to the beerSmith2 software, I hit my volumes, temps, and gravities spot on.
I brewed two 5 gallon batches of a dry Irish stout, but made a few variations in each batch to see what I like best (example- added gypsum to batch #2).
Both ended up with a post-boil 60F gravity of 1.06.
The only little problem occurred in using a carboy on Sunday- I tried to pitch dry yeast down a funnel, and when the wort hit it, the funnel neck clogged- lessons learned.
Now I'm studying kegging and scouring craigslist for fridges, and brew equipment! If I had more vessels to ferment in, I'd brew some more today!
If looking to make the jump to all-grain... DO IT! It is easy!
