Vista Hops were release by the USDA last year and we are growing them on our farm but we are not seeing many recipes out there. Looking to see what everyone things about Vista Hops and if there are any good recipes on the market. We grow and sell them from our NY Hop Farm.

Vista Hops drive mad
Has anyone experimented with Vista Hops in brewing recipes? If so, could you share any recipes or ideas for using them?

Hey, I haven’t brewed with Vista a ton yet, but I’ve been experimenting with it over a couple batches and digging into its profile a bit.
From what I’ve seen, Vista is definitely more of a fruit-forward aroma hop — think honeydew, pear, tropical fruit, light citrus, even a bit of green tea. It’s not as “in your face” as Citra/Mosaic, more smooth and layered.
Where it seems to work best:
  • Hazy / NEIPA (as a supporting or secondary hop)of
  • Pale ales/session IPAs
  • Even lagers or pilsners for a modern fruity twist
What I’ve had success with:
  • Use it late (whirlpool + dry hop) — it shines in aroma, not so much as a bittering hop
  • Pair it with something louder like Citra, Cascade, or Idaho 7 to give it a backbone
Simple recipe idea (worked well for me):
  • Base: Pale malt + a little wheat/oats (for body)
  • Bittering: neutral hop @ 60 min
  • Vista:
    • 1–2 oz @ whirlpool (170–180°F)
    • 2–3 oz dry hop
  • Optional: add Citra (1–2 oz dry hop) to boost intensity
That gave me a really nice, juicy but clean profile — melon/pear upfront, not overly dank or harsh.
Overall impression: Vista feels like a “supporting star” hop right now — great for adding complexity or soft fruit character, but I wouldn’t rely on it alone for a bold IPA.
Curious how yours are turning out on the farm — seems like a hop with a lot of potential once more brewers start playing with it
