Yeast Starters effect on Batch Size

S

Steve_SA

G'day Brad

I want to have 20L in the fermenter after cooling then add a 1L starter to finish with 21L.

Should "My Equipment" have a Final Volume of 21L, and use the "Top Up Water" field as 1L to represent the starter?

Or should Final Volume be 20L and ignore the 1L starter? :-/

Regards
Steve

Steve,
I do not believe that the "water needed" currently takes into account the size of the yeast starter.

Perhaps it should - I need to think it through a bit.

In any case, if you are doing this consistently you might want to adjust the equipment settings as you suggest (i.e. 1 L top up water).

Cheers!
Brad
