I’m pleased to announce the release of a web based version of BeerSmith 3 along with a desktop BeerSmith 3.2 update. The web based version allows you to edit your cloud based recipes from anywhere by simply logging into your cloud account at BeerSmithRecipes.com.
BeerSmith Web Highlights
- Web based recipe editing from any browser by simply logging into your BeerSmithRecipes.com cloud account. I do recommend checking the “Stay logged in” box when logging in so you don’t get logged out in the middle of a recipe edit.
- Layouts that support desktop, tablet and phone/mobile device access
- Recipe editor is a free upgrade to all Gold, Platinum and Professional BeerSmith 3 license holders. Basic license holders are eligible for the 30 day free trial version.
- Free 30 day trial available for new users – just create an account to start your trial
- Full featured recipe editor similar to the desktop version including both basic recipe building and advanced tools like yeast starters, water profile matching, and mash pH adjustment
- Extensive online tutorials available to help you get started
- Extensive library of preloaded ingredients, equipment profiles, brewing data and you can create custom profiles and ingredients
- Exchange recipes with the desktop version via your cloud folder. Exchange profiles and ingredients between cloud and new 3.2 desktop update as well to make it easier to work across platforms.
- Dozens of separate brewing tools and unit conversion tools available online from your account
- Easily search for, copy and scale recipes from the largest database of online beer recipes in the world
- When you purchase a Gold, Platinum or Professional license for BeerSmith you get access to both the web based recipe editor and the latest desktop program
BeerSmith 3.2 Desktop Update
We’re also releasing a BeerSmith 3.2 update you can find here which adds the ability to transfer profiles and ingredients between the desktop and cloud, in addition to the existing cloud folder features which let you exchange recipes.
- New “Exchange Items” button added to profile and equipment views on the desktop which let you easily transfer your custom ingredients and profiles to your cloud account. We do recommend adjusting your addons/preloaded ingredients on both the web and desktop first as there is no need to duplicate addons/preloaded ingredients which are available on both.
- Direct activation using simple cloud login to activate your electronic license. You no longer have to go through the long process of opening several dialogs and web pages.
- Corrections on the Mac for running in Dark mode. Enabling Dark mode on your Mac before running BeerSmith will force BeerSmith to disable its current theme and display a dark theme.
- Addition of custom field for UK Tax ABV which is calculated differently from regular ABV. The new field is called “Measured UK Tax ABV” and can be added as a select field from the Design tab or from View->Customize Columns in My Recipe view.
- Several minor fixes and updates.
- The Windows and all recent Mac OSX versions are available at launch. Another Mac version for older Macs is in the works as well as the Linux Ubuntu builds.

Hey Brad When or are you ever going to add profiles for distillation? I use beersmith for formulating whiskey , vodka, rum etc. recipes. Thanks and cheers
Dave
It is on my to do list but honestly I need to take some time to learn more about distillation first.
Hi Brad. I’ve noticed a clicking in your podcasts that is making them almost impossible to listen to. Not sure if it is a pen click or what it is but it has become increasingly distracting.
Thank you for making an otherwise great show.
