The autosiphon is a great tool for beer brewers, but many brewers have found that the siphon seal can leak air while siphoning. The quick fix is to use some distilled water as outlined here.

Solid tip. I usually siphoned half a pint first and pour it gently down the outer tube from above, so there was no need for getting the sterile distilled water. But the damn thing eventually led me to ditch the autosiphoning and move to install spigots on my SS and plastic fermentors.
